The Fight Continues

Hopes of talks with the landowners in Fenit Island came to nothing as expected so another protest walk is planned for July 24th, the whole issue here is quiet simple, for the 3 landowners to remove the fencing that prevents people from walking safely around the coastal pathway to Fenit Island castle. People for generations have enjoyed walking around Fenit Island, locals and tourists have fished in there without any problems until in the last few years when one Seamus T O'Sullivan inherited land from his uncle, he then proceeded to erect "Fort Knox" style fencing on his lands, the worst part is some of this fencing  runs perpendicular to his land and out on to the rocks and cliffs, some of this fencing is almost 8ft high and runs approx 40ft out on to rocks and cliffs making it very dangerous. Lots of people have been intimidated and threatened in the island for walking and fishing, these are people who have enjoyed all the beauty the island has to offer for many years, many years before this fencing was erected. Lots of locals have recieved solicitors letters etc. Large signs are erected around the island threatening people with court proceedings etc if they are found walking. The actions of these 3 landowners has really angered the whole community and protest walks are going to continue until the offending fencing is removed
